My first pick up in quite awhile. This puts me one short of being half way to an all purple set.

Found these two at an ephemera show Monday morning. The smaller one appears to be cut from something larger (any idea what it was cut from?).

Alan:

Great trade card! Some useless information:

The quotation on the obverse is a take off on Gilbert & Sullivan's "A Policeman's Lot is Not a Happy One," from the Pirates of Penzance.

As regards Professor Doremus, see:

And from the September 29, 1889 Logansport Journal ...

"NEW YORKS GREAT CHEMIST This is to certify that I have analyzed Dr Prices Cream BAKING POWDER 1 find it composed of pure materials compounded on correct scientific principles The ingredients are accurate ly and scientifically proportioned Hence bread or bis prepared with it arebettersuited for digestion R OGDEN DOREMUS M IX LL D VioL Chemistry and Toxicology In the New Bullevue Uosnltul Medical Colkse ITot Chemistry and Physics the College ot the City at New York."

The good professor seems to have had a passion for baking powder.

Renewed dedication to the Monster. Thanks Mike, It's a lot more fun to trade than to sell. The scotches were swell as well.

That card would be a lot nicer looking if it didn't have those obvious hashmarks on the sides and tops. Maybe you could power-erase them off?

Since it doesn't have a back I only had to pay half as much....I penned in the hash marks last night to make it look neat....I am thinking about erasing them though...

Anyone can skin a card and make lines on the front. Maybe you could talk to the guy and try and get your money back.

What's wrong with Vive Lindaman?

I picked these up a few weeks ago but just got around to scanning them:

While we're talking about Mr. Lindaman, he only pitched in 15 games in 1909 and, as a result appears in T206 cards in (almost) just the 150 Series. So he is a bit of a toughie, as those who have tried to acquire his card in any shape, let alone decent shape, could attest. That is why I am so happy to have been able to acquire the one I did (posted way above).

That card looks hand-cut. I'd get rid of it if I were you.

The Diamond Star Ernie Lombardi (high number - 105) finishes off my 1934-36 Diamond Stars set (1-108). You can see my set of Diamond Stars at http://www.bandkgreen.net/diamond_stars

I picked up the 1937 OPC Batter-Up Lefty Grove several weeks ago.

Congratulations, Brad, on the Diamond Stars. Always a good feeling to fill that last puka. Hope to see #'s 97-108 added to your gallery one of these days. Any advice for a fellow DS collector as to how best to land those last twelve?

David:

The high-numbered Diamond Stars are in my gallery. Look near the bottom of the page below. Maybe I will make a special page for them, that shows both front and back.

http://www.bandkgreen.net/diamond_stars/gallery3.htm

I hope you are well!
