Does anyone have an opinion on the quality of Mike Gutierrez as an authenticator of vintage BBall autographs?

Regards,
Scott

I'm not an autograph collector, but as far as I know he is usually mentioned among the best of them.

He's long been regarded as one of the top baseball autograph experts in the hobby, and has authenticated for Mastro, PSA/DNA, GAI, Sotheby's and PBS's Antique Roadshow.

Well, I actually don't know about his autograph authentication abilities though I do believe I have heard he has done a good job when I have heard his name mentioned. At this previous National I did sit shoulder to shoulder with him at a nice dinner, for about 2-3 hours. Seemed like a real nice guy.....He collects a lot of 60's and 70's pop art stuff, I believe....and quite a bit of rock and roll stuff too, if I remember correctly. He is on Heritage's staff....regards

You will have no problems with him as an authenticator or buying something he has authenticated. In my opinion, he is one of the best and has been for quite a while. I used to buy a lot from him when he ran his own auctions as well.

I wish he were the head authenticator over at PSA/DNA instead of Grad.

Not only is Mike one of the top authenticators, he is willing to help you out and you can learn a lot from him. Wish there were more guys like him in the hobby. I know of several dealers that will only by items reviewd by Mike. Now he owes me ten dollars! -Josh

He's appeared on Antiques Roadshow, so if you watch enough episodes you'll see him.
