Great show'n'tell thread. Here's a random mix of Pirates' cards from the era.

Default Let's see those 1909 Pirates

Love this thread. Great stuff top to bottom.

I'm trying to get autographs of the starting 9. Only need Dots Miller, Bill Abstein, and Chief Wilson.

Dots Miller is a very tough autograph from what I've been told. Makes sense with how long ago he died. This is as close as I will get most likely. The nickname is probably better than having the full name anyway

Enjoyed the article. Always nice to see something about vintage baseball in a modern newspaper. One question for the Pronunciation Police: what is the correct way to say Carnegie? Have always heard it said "CAR-na-gie", emphasis on the first syllable. A while back I watched an American Experience TV show about Andrew Carnegie and he was referred to throughout as "Car-NAY-gie", emphasis on second syllable. I also listened to a YouTube with some old-timer who claimed to have known Wagner in Car-NAY-gie. Said "Hah-nuss" as well so he passed that test. Some of you guys are local to the area. What do you call the place?

You can just find one of any player from the team and then change the sewing. Trust me, it wasn't tough to turn H. Wagner into J. Miller

One of my favorites pieces Leon. Yours looks pretty clean. Was in postally used?

No, not used, and not the normal folds only the crease that can be seen in the lower left. One of the nicer of the +/- handful I have seen. When I saw it I was like "hmmm, no folds"....unusual. I like it.

That is extremely neat and precise handwriting, especially from a 78 year old man. Cool letter!

Thanks Marty. I might lay low for a bit. The wife has me remodeling the kitchen.

Default Triple Play

Completed my run of D322 Tip Top Bread catchers yesterday.

Picked up the Gibson in 2001...O'Connor in 2012...and Simon in 2018.

Project only took 17 years!

One of the most visually appealing prewar sets.
