I don't usually venture into postcards but this one seemed really interesting. Carlisle Indians baseball game circa 1907. Jim Thorpe is on the field somewhere.

Here's a series of three Brooklyn Robins vs. Philly As 1914 or 1915 Spring Training panoramic RPPCs, taken at Ebbets Field "south". Love the IDs/text on the fronts. The back shown has a message from Brooklyn pitcher Charlie Schmutz to his mother.

Sweet Daytona RPPC's & the El Paso Tx PC with Rube & Christy is so unique as well! Fun to see these teams in spring training at the turn of the century.

And oddly enough someone has taken that image and is selling it on ebay as a "Vintage photo", but I don't think it's very "vintage."

[QUOTE=HTBB;1230730]1909 Santa Ana All-Stars. Here is one you may have seen before. I purchased it on the BST.

Perhaps Hank Thomas will check in with specifics, but I recall when Walter pitched in 1909 in the California Winter League he not only pitched for the Santa Ana Yellow Sox, but he also pitched for the Los Angeles Olive team. In one game Johnson pitched against a colored team called the Los Angeles Giants and struck out 20 batters.

Since one of the guys in your photo is sporting a Los Angeles jersey, I'm wondering if this photo was taken while Walter played on the LA Olive team in 1909....

Walter did pitch for a number of L.A. area teams between 1904-1910, but mostly with Olinda/Anaheim (they changed their name) 1904-06 and Santa Ana 1907-10. This postcard, which came from the estate, is the 1909 Santa Ana team as stated. I have an original full size photo of this team in 1908, with many of the same players. I also have the "Walter Johnson Day" Santa Ana program from Dec 1909 when he pitched a no-hitter. I'll try to attach photos. (The team photo uploaded, but the other two failed. They're all the same size. Go figure. I'll try again on another post.)

Default Box of?

Can't really tell what's in the box, even with enlarging the pic. The name label on the kid's shirt MAY say "Royal Mirror". Box of small square mirrors? New advertiser at the ballpark?

... What a neat post card and it is awesome to see the Big Train's imposing frame next to the others on the top row. No wonder he could throw so hard. I always knew he had long arms, and tall, but his shoulder width compared to the others on the top row, is quite impressive. What a specimen.

BTW, the "Seaton" on the McCormick's PC is Joe, not Tom.

1924 Paris Olympics Official RRPC of the team from Chile. As they had only 13 competitors this probably includes a coach (back right) and an alternate. In this group is Manuel Plaza their first ever OLympic medal winner, 1928 Marathon silver medal. Signed on the back and dated 4 days after the end of the games by Alfredo Ugarte (1903 - ?). He competed in the 110m hurdles in 1924 and 1928, but did not get out of the first heat either time.
