Default Heritage Auction Bid Question

First time bidding in a Heritage auction. Does anyone know if it's possible to reduce your maximum bid on an item? I'm the current high bidder on an item with Heritage now but have cooled somewhat on it. If I get it at the current bid, I'll be fine with it but don't want to go much higher any longer. Can my maximum bid be reduced? I reached out to Heritage but they didn't reply.

Thanks

Also, keep in mind Heritage reserves the right to bid against you. Considering they probably don't pay a bidders' premium, many think that gives them an unfair advantage.
