Default Post your telegrams

Rutland Vermont once almost lined up a game with Babe Ruth of the Red Sox, and Walter Johnson. Barrows had to nix the deal; however, the Red Sox visited Rutland for an exhibition game two Sundays later (sans Johnson):

Default Aaron ties the Babe

I think the sender meant 11 years old, not 11 weeks old. Or, maybe a proud new Dad. Sent very soon after the tying HR was hit.

That Aaron telegram was a great way to commemorate the event, as anyone could send a telegram to anyone else, and have a 'sent' version as a keepsake. But of course Aaron may have saved all such mementos - who knows?

Branch Rickey telegram to Jack Bolling, former Dodger returned from the war. Bolling eventually signs and plays 111 games for the Mobile Bears, his expressed desire according to Rickey. A fun pick-up from Gray Ghost.

I picked this Ty Cobb one up a while ago with a few other telegrams from other players and some other cool paperwork.

Jan. 14th 1941 Telegram from LOU GEHRIG to the Stevens Brothers (sons of Harry Stevens) written as only Lou Gehrig could've done, in such a moving and emotional manner, while still believing that he'll be back again with the Yanks, although he'd be gone in just six short months. My favorite of all my Gehrig pieces.
