Default Help requested - fair value for this baseball trophy

c. 1915, approx 18 inches high - Boy's Brigade" , Vancouver. Seller has it as part of a lot of Boys Brigade items including other trophies but may parse it out. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Normally a loving cup won't fetch too much, but this trophy has lot of nice detail. The runner sliding into base matches the image seen on Spalding plaques, medals and trophies, so I'm assuming could have been made by Dieges Clust. The base has nice detail and it looks like it has a spot for the engraving of the winner each year, making this a perpetual trophy. I would put value at $300-400.

Due to the lower plaques on the base I would add another $100 to 200 to Joes estimate. Nice trophy

I might go even a little higher. The trophy appears to be in great condition. Getting very tough to find these without dings, debts and significant tarnishing.

And the sliding player image is pretty fantastic. Really well executed and seldom-seen. I could easily see this one going in the $550 -$650 range.

Great post!

I've never, ever considered collecting trophies. But that one is a beauty and I've seen others in collection display threads. They are pretty damn cool. Would probably pick one up now if I found a deal.

Default Picked it up today

Didn't have my reading glasses with me when I first saw this last month and guessed on a few things. Assumed it was produced earlier as the other Boy's Bridage items in the collection were 1900-1930, but the plaques on the base point to winners in 1942, 1943 and 1945 with the first plaque being undated and smaller than the others (could it have been manufactured earlier than 1940's and not purchased or awarded until later?)

It is just over 14.25 inches tall with nice sliding player in bass relief. Reads "Boy's Brigade Baseball Trophy Sure & Steadfast Championship of Greater Vancouver Presented by The Royal Crown Soaps Limited Vancouver.

It has a couple of small dings but presents nicely. I assume that the value would trend downward with the new info but feel that I did OK at $200 CAD?

Thanks!

You did fine at that price ! It's a great looking trophy and yes , that was made before 1945 even though the presentation didn't happen until later

Agree-

You did very well on the price. And the trophy is A LOT older than the date issued. We're talking more than a 25 year gap....

I wonder why/how it sat idly for so long prior to being issued. Regardless, it's a very attractive piece and a rare trophy.

Default Picked up another one....

Well, it seems that I am starting a small Vancouver-centric, vintage baseball trophy collection.

Picked up another cool looking loving cup. First pic is next to my previous pick up to show size - as This one is a monster at 17 inches. Dated 1926 - "Sidney Malcomson Trophy - Emblematic Of - Senior B. Baseball Championship of British Columbia - Presented By - B.C. Amateur Baseball Association - 1926.

It has a ring with teams and years awards covering 1926 - 1933 and teams such as: Abbotsford, Nanaimo Eagles, Victoria Capitals, Chemanius, Squamish Indians, Haney, Smith Airlines and Coquitlam.

Can't find much about the teams and nothing about the league on line. I know that there are some very knowledgable Western Canadian and Pacific Northwest baseball collectors on this site....can anyone point me in the right direction to find out more about this league?
