Default PSA pops wrong again - Ruth ?

A few days ago a PSA 4 1925 Exhibit Champions Ruth was sold and listed as the highest ever graded, 1 of 1. I finally made it to my safe deposit box, and sure enough I have that exact card in PSA 5, hmmm.

The ebay item # of the 4 grade was 281036347183 (sorry no direct link).

And here is scan of my card. Are these 2 different cards? Or are they the same, PSA just messed up? Thanks.

The pop report is right - there are two cards. Exhibits and Exhibits Champions Babe Ruth. I don't quite know what the difference is, but under 1925 Exhibits Babe Ruth it lists that PSA 5 is a pop 3.

Default Thanks for reply

Thanks, Leon, for providing better link. I need to get someone to show me that link posting technique.

I did call PSA today. I then sent them an email with my pic and the item # of the card sold on ebay (the 4 grade). She said they would get back to me. If they do, I will tell share what they say.

This is a mechanical error, which happens. Sometimes PSA will correct this for free; other times, they will make you pay for a reholder fee.

That's very nice of PSA to charge you for their mistakes!

Default after web research ...

Looking around internet, it appears the 1925 regular exhibit shows Ruth after follow through, he is looking straight up (probably just popped it up). The 1925 Champions has the photo posted on this thread, and says at the bottom left, ...Worlds champion...

I believe they are 2 different exhibit sets...with 2 totally different ruth poses. The 25' champion set contains 1 baseball player only!!!!

two completely different issues. The champions set has only a few athletes from the 'popular' sports: Ruth, Jack Dempsey, Gene Sarazen [golf], Bill Tilden [tennis], Johnny Weissmuller [Tarzan]. The rest not so much. Here is a partial checklist:

Blouin, Jimmy
Cronos, Signor
Dempsey, Jack
Gaudin, Lucien
Gilmore, W.E.G.
Gourdin, Edw. O.
Haugen, Anders
Hoff
Hoppe, Willie
Jewtraw, Charles
Kish, Albert
Lewis, Ed Strangler
Long, Asa
Lundin, Frank
McQuade, Frank
Milton, Tommy
Paddock, Charlie
Palmer, Wm. H.
Ritola, Willie
Ruth, Babe
Sarazen, Gene X.
Spencer, Willie
Stine, Elizabeth
Stinson, Al
Stoddard, Louis E.
Thompson, Earl
Tilden
Wainwright, Helen
Weissmuller, Johnny
Wood, Gar

Not sure if I'm more afraid of Ed's headlock or his tights.

PSA has gotten them mixed up in the past so dont rely on the flip alone. Here is a picture of the 1925 Exhibit (not mine and PSA messed up as this is the 1925 NOT the 1926), what you posted was the much harder to find 1925 Exhibit Champions.

Default PSA replied back

PSA shot me an email saying their research department has looked into it and my cards flip is, infact, incorrect, and should be the "Champions".

They said to send it back to them, they will cover the fix and return postage, I need to send it to them, and they will in turn issue me a grading voucher.

I then assume PSA will take away an EX5 grade pop number from the regular 1925 Exhibits, and insert a pop 1 for my EX5 1925 Champions Ruth. Nice.

I bought the card back in 2008, and I do not think back then (could be wrong) PSA differentiated the 2 1925 types in their pop report. Are there perhaps other 1925 Champions incorrectly listed as regular 1925's ?

So the person who bought the 4 thinking it was the highest, now it won't be the highest. Lol
