Default t206 back scarcity

Posted By: rob

according to the T206 museum website there are 40 different backs rated in scarcity order. How would you rate them as far as availability/scarcity. For example what % of cards available would be from #'s 30 and lower on their list. In other words, where do truly rare backs begin on this list. Or, for what backs do the premiums of the cards really increase? Is Tolstoi back rare for example, as often advertsied on ebay, or is that simply a marketing ploy and they are relatively available, etc...I know this is a huge topic, but dont feel the need to delve too deep, I am just trying to get some gauge how rare some of these backs really are and if there is a cut-off point on this list where one can say that is a truly rare back.

I believe the "cut off" is between AMERICAN BEAUTY and OLD MILL.

American Beauty cards seem to be a found LOT LESS OFTEN than OLD MILLS and everything BELOW there on that list.

Everything ABOVE American Beauty is seen even LESS.

I agree with Hal on this. In response to Tolstoi, though it is certainly less frequently found than Sweet Cap or Piedmont, I would not pay a premium on it, except perhaps a small one for a HOFer. But even then, not much.
