I probably don't need to tell most of you this but there are always new young collectors entering our hobby and why not help protect them when we can?

You can click on NET54's detect fakes link and see that the gap on this one is too large. see the M101 fake link.

Happy Collecting!

This card was offered in a Glens Falls, NY auction on January 28. I don't blame the auctioneer. I advised him the card was a reprint. I did not bid.

I blame the ebay auctioneer, I advised her and sent her a link to the detect fakes here. Also, that winning bidder looks fishy at 100% bidding with this seller.

I'll play...

Two different auctions with obvious fake 1933 Goudey Ruth and fake 1933 Goudey Gehrig which seems to have been shilled to death...

Lovely Day...

She did add this last night:
"On Feb-07-12 at 21:43:20 PST, seller added the following information:
Since i listed this i've had 4 people tell me this is a fake or a reprint. I know nothing about baseball cards ,i've tried to research this and have found nothing about it,one person told me where to find info, i got to the site, but i couldn't get to the information about the card.. i've been looking at it and i can't tell .i'm thinking about taking it off, its late at night but i think i will cancel it in the morning."

So I think it looks like an honest mistake.

It's been removed. Chalk one up for the good guys....and almost no doubt an honest mistake by the seller.

I wanted to add that this is helpful. I wouldn't have known what to look for as I haven't yet dealt with any M101 cards. So even if you think everyone here knows it all, I will testify that I do not know nearly enough to pretend that I know it all.

Thank you for pointing out the fakes no matter how obvious you think it is.

This (above) post should be framed and matted on the virtual Net54baseball wall for eternity. As I routinely comment, when folks get a bit upset concerning other members pointing out fakes, which we (most of us) have seen before a hundred times, I know for absolute sure that not everyone is aware. We are still getting over 60 new members every single month and not all of them have the knowledge in pre-war that some others do. Best regards and thanks again Dan, for pointing this one out.
