Default "Sudanese" Explanation?

Posted By: Mark

As to all the repeated requests for an explanation on my
"Sudanese" comment - it was a light-hearted parody on Alan's original post; which in no way was meant to be anti-Semitic (that's a stretch) or for that matter, ridiculing his collecting interests.

I apologize to the thin-skinned on the board!

P.S. BTW, I just saw the responses today - I been a bit busy
with a new job, 1 yr old son, etc.

thanks for the explanation - though I dont think it helps anything to call those of use who suggested that the remarks could be off color are "thin-skinned". Speaking solely for myself (and from many emails that I received, I know Im not the only one who felt this way) all I suggested was that the thread "could be interpreted" in such a manner and asked for a comment from you. Nearly every other post I made was in response other posters who seemed to want to fan the flames. I would also add, it is in no way a stretch to think that the post could be anti-Semitic.

If you could tell me exactly why you saw Alan's interest in Jewish baseball cards as humorous, or strange, or other, and thus moved you to "parody" his post - I'd be super interested.
I have noticed that amongst all the other niche interest areas of collecting posts, you somehow only saw this one post as so odd, or unusual, that you felt drawn to make fun of it. I find that interesting.

Well, for any interested, I just spent 5 very cool minutes on the phone with Mark and he comes across really well, straight up, and not at all mean spirited or of mean intent. I believe he knows alan, or of alan, and meant the remark as more of an "in" joke - but forgot to personalize it.
I think he was also a little blown away by the size of the response - I'll just say that I'll take the crowd that stands up at the first sign of wrongdoing over the crowds that wait till it's about them and their own little world.
So Net54, I'm kind of proud of you.

Daniel

BS. I will take a crowd who defends from wrongdoing, not trumped up wrongs which exist only in the minds of the "offended".

I also spoke with Mark about this today. It was an inside joke and not meant to be anti-Semitic. Just a parody on another thread.....Please don't make this thread be locked folks...read what we are saying and get back to cards. Mark meant no harm....(and my first comment back to him, on the original thread, was when I thought he was someone else altogether)....regards
