Default early 1900's sports racism

I found this interesting. Here's an issue of 'Baseball Magazine' dedicated to all sports, showing leaders in each on the cover, except....

BASEBALL MAGAZINE JAN 1912-TY COBB-BOXER JACK JOHNSON-KING COLE

Interesting cover. Excuse my denseness but are you referring to the lack of a person of color, or football player, or ....? ....on the cover.

Or perhaps that they have a big feature article on Jack Johnson in the magazine, but opt for the top lacrosse and rowing crew guys to be on the cover instead...?

Polite corrections for unidentified and misidentified photos appreciated. Rude corrections also appreciated, but less so.

The articles are on "TY COBB, ...JACK JOHNSON, JOHN MCGRAW, ARTHUR HOFMAN, KING COLE". None of these sports stars are illustrated on the cover, which is a generic group of athletes.

There is a football player (guy with 'P' on shirt). Jack Johnson and boxing were a HUGE topic in 1912. If he had not been black I guarantee you a boxer would have been on the cover....perhaps a generic white boxer.
