Default New (old) Snapshots!!!!

Posted By: Dan Bretta

Just got in a big lot of old snapshots from Will Hays...most are from the International League in the 1940s...Lots of Orioles, Syracuse Chiefs, Toronto, Buffalo and a few major leaguers. Haven't had time to scan many of them yet, but I'll have them up on my website soon. Here's a couple of them.

Bingo Binks - old time Washington Senators fans will remember this guy as the goat of the 1945 season when he forgot to take his sunglasses out with him in the 12th inning. This was just after time was called so the Athletics center fielder could get his sunglasses.

That Reese photo is neat...thanks for sharing...I think I have a couple of polaroids of Ruth and Dimaggio (or Gehrig, I forget) and will try to dig them out soon..

I like all your snapshots, Dan. Good collecting hobby. Below are three candid snapshots I've owned. I'll let you figure out who is in them.

Top photo is Ronald Reagan and his daughter Maureen. Second Photo is Cobb, McGraw and Mack, and the third photo is Joe Louis. All great photos. I don't really collect snapshots of celebrities other than baseball, but I do run across them occasionally while searching and I see a lot of them. I wouldn't mind having some of the Beatles or Elvis.

I do have one of President Harding, but I don't have him scanned in at the moment...you don't even have to have someone famous in a photo for it to be valuable...I bought a photo album recently and took out one picture and re-sold it for twice what I paid for the entire album. I bet you can guess why this one was collectible...

Jeremy, I think you're right.....I didn't look closely enough when I answered that. I don't know if it's Edison, but it sure ain't McGraw.

Jeremy is correct. It's Cobb, Edison and Mack. It took my brother in law to point out to me that the guy in the middle is Edison. The photo came from Eddie Collins' photo album. The Reagan photo belonged to his mother in law and was probably shot by Nancy Reagan. The Joe Louis came from his trainer Mannie Seamon's album and may have been shot by Seamon.
