Josh,
Great pickup. The Brown is one of my favorite cards in the set and near impossible to find as nice as that one.

Thanks Jim. It's one of my favorites as well and Im real pleased with it - here's hoping there is nothing that would prevent it from crossing.

Josh, would you crack a card like that out and submit or try to cross it in the slab?

Its a tough call Jeff - I think the card legitimately could grade a 6 (I say this w/o seeing it first hand yet). However, I doubt it gets a full grade bump in the slab. If cracked, there is also the downside risk that SGC finds something that I dont see and knocks it down a grade. So, in all likelihood, I will be conservative and send it in the slab - then, worst case, its still a psa 5.

Ive found SGC to be pretty fair about crossing cards. They dont seem to have any predisposition against crossing competitors cards to equivilent grades and Ive even had a few cards cross from from psa/gai 5s to sgc 70s, so there is always a chance for a small bump (of course Ive also had several not cross).

Josh, I've been the underbidder on a few of your recent E93 wins -- including that one. I love that card; the color is just out of this world. I, too, thought the card might be a 6 if cracked out, though a 5 would be alright too as it is really nice. And I agree that you have to send it in the slab. Too expensive to take a chance on. I'd love to see a scan of it in the black holder when you get it back.

Jeff,

Thanks. I will definitely post it once its back from SGC. Also, check your emails, I had a question for you regarding something you mentioned above.

Mike,

That Joss looks great for a 10. I'll pick up cards like that all day long if I have the chance.

Josh (or anyone),

Can you cross that Brown to SGC in it's current slab? I have several graded cards that I want to send to SGC, but I was under the impression that if the card value is over $500 you have to crack it out of the old slab before sending it in (which I am too scared to do). Please let me know if you are able to cross it. Thanks

Edited to say, Beautiful card. The Brown is my favorite card in the set.

Two more type cards to add to the collection! I really like the Nielson Type 1 cards, glad to find one in such nice shape, definitely an underappreciated set. The Crofts is in an auth holder but isnt trimmed, just slightly short side to side. Miscuts were endemic in the Crofts Cocoa set, I wish SGC would have some leeway with that.

Paul,

Great autos on the T206's, also would like to mention how cool it is to have a note from Snodgrass referring to "Glory of Their Times". I had read the book a number of years ago but thanks to Cy now have it on CD and it is so much better to actually hear the voices of the actual players. You can hear their enjoyment of baseball in their voices.

My latest -

Dylan- the last Croft's Cocoa I had was also Miller, fielding and it too was narrow. But it was in a GAI holder and they graded it, and it was no better than yours.

These are the inconsistencies I find very frustrating.

good to know Barry. Maybe itd be worth sending over to GAI as i dont think a factory cut card deserves to be in a auth holder while handcut cards are graded. Since im responding in the pickups thread, heres two more from the last couple weeks...

Adam,

The front image of O'Leary just does not look right to me. I don't have the link anymore, but if I recall, the card sold for about $15 shipped. I remember this card because of the player and the wierd hand cut nature of the boarders. I hope you have not put too much into this card.
