Question How do you handle Ebay buyers trying to cheat you?

I don't mean no harm, but if a buyer on Ebay is attempting to get a card that they bought from me for free by claiming it wasn't delivered, they WILL GET BLOCKED!! How do other sellers handle Ebay cheats?

If there is no tracking, there isn't much you can do you prove your case.

Have they filed a claim?

or are they just telling you they just haven't received it yet?

The postal clerk accidentally scanned the package as "DELIVERED" when I handed it to him at the counter. Therefore, the buyer was understandably freaked out. But as the package made it's rounds across the country, it was getting subsequent scans showing the various "hits" it made as it was working it's way to them. All the while, showing DELIVERED. It then received a final "delivered" scan once the package was officially delivered. However, the buyer thought he was going to take advantage of a loophole and the error on the original clerks part to get a $300 card for free! NOT HAPPENING BUDDY!!!!!

That is why I hate eBay. As far as the USPS they are not my favorite people sometimes also. I shipped a package to a fellow member last tuesday. It has not been updated since last thursday and was supposed to be delivered last friday.

Sorry for the USPS rant in you thread and hope it works out for you and eBay does not side with the scammer.

Just because the tracking says it was delivered doesn't mean they delivered to the right address. I had a package scanned as delivered on Dec 27. I happened to pass the mail carrier on my way home at about 11:14am the delivered scan says delivered 14:26pm. Two weeks later I am still waiting for the card. The last time USPS delivered a package of mine to the wrong address it took awhile for it to show up. It sucks but it happens.

On items that I consider more valuable than the risk I require signature so that they can't say the item wasn't delivered to them.

This has still come back to bite me before because a card that sold for aprox $800 got returned to me a month later as never picked up. When I contacted the buyer he said he was out of town the week (even though it wasn't shipped back to me for a month meaning he had a month to pick it up) it was attempted and I should ship it back. When I mentioned the pricing of shipping and insuring it he said it only cost him $2.65 to ship something that morning. I explained that is the minimum without insurance. He continued that he didn't think I need insurance and that I never told him it was going to need a signature and now it is a month later without a card so it is on me. I went ahead and at the cost of shipping but asked if he would be available to sign. He still didn't want to but I insisted and he did. The worst part of all this is that I found out while the back and forth was happening that he is a board member. I couldn't believe a board member would suggest sending a $800 card without insurance or signature.
He was blocked on ebay without any fan fair, and won't find out until he tries to buy from me in the future.

He won't find out even then. You become invisible to people you block.

How is that? I'm blocked by Battlefield0516 but can still view their rubbish if so inclined.

I don't think so. I get contacted all the time by people I have blocked, wondering why they can't place a bid in my auctions.

As a seller, you have to draw the line somewhere. If certain people on Ebay realized they could get stuff for free no matter what the tracking said, things would get ugly really quick.

As it is, there are definitely people out there who make sure the tracking checks out on all their packages, and will file a claim the second they receive something in the mail that the mailman forgot to scan when he dropped it off.

This guy Bobby is dealing with, definitely sounds like somebody inclined to do something like this if he could get away with it.

Agreed. If some people think they can get stuff for free, they will try to take advantage of the situation. I have seen it enough to realize, sad but true, that that is a fact. I wasn't raised that way, but money trumps all I guess.

If so, that would be while you're signed in at eBay. If you're looking while not signed in, you would see everything.

Not true, every once in a while I find something from a football seller that catches my eye, and he's blocked me. For the life of me, I can't ever remember dealing with him before, but I can't even send him a message asking why he blocked me. But, while logged in, I can certainly see his stuff.

From any user's feedback profile page, you can use the "contact member" option to contact a user, even one who has blocked your account. A blocked member is just not able to contact a seller via an item listing question.

I ALWAYS use signature confirmation for any items over 200.00. Some may even choose to use signature confirmation on items for less. I have even done it on 100.00 items if I am getting a bad vibe due to discussion, feedback, or what ever. This cost can be passed on to the buyer as long as you advertise it that way otherwise you may eat this cost yourself.

If you use Paypal shipping, there is a box you can check for signature confirmation and it adds the cost. Very simple and easy to do for own peace of mind.

I have no doubt that signature confirmation has saved me a ton of headaches and also saved me hundreds of dollars dealing with people I do not know who may have otherwise tried to take advantage of the situation.

That's a good idea if you get a bad vibe from somebody.

That said, I have still had people say they haven't received a package that was sent with signature confirmation. When I point out the USPS records say otherwise, they say there must be a mistake, it certainly wasn't their signature.

Then I tell them I would be happy to help them file a Mail Theft report with their local post office......and then........................................cricke ts.

I had a problem one time when I sent a Pete Rose rookie card via Signature Confirmation and the postal clerk handed it to the person without obtaining a signature. The tracking showed it in limbo, and NOT delivered. The tracking probably still shows it in limbo years later!! The buyer could have really screwed me over on that one if they wanted to. So I will add, if you are willing to put signature confirmation on the card, you best put insurance on it as well.
