Default 1952 topps baseball wax pack - PSA 8 - value?

my good friend just told me he submitted a 52 Topps baseball 5 cent wax pack that he had in his possession for 25 years - and it came back a PSA 8!!!

I really have no idea what that is worth - any of you experts out there have any idea?

Looks like it's the highest graded:
https://www.psacard.com/pop/packs/19...wax-pack/63714
Can the series be determined by seeing through the wrapper? That would drastically affect value.
Here are previous sales:
https://www.psacard.com/auctionprice.../values/854587
$11K for a PSA 6 pack in 2011
$11K for a PSA 5 pack in 2015

I don't know, $100K or best offer?

PSA 7 sold for $48K recently

https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball-c.../50004-50710.s

PSA 6 for $28K

https://sports.ha.com/itm/baseball-c.../50004-50710.s

My guess is a PSA 8 goes for $100K to $125K, but just a guess. Best bet is to send it off to auction and let the bidders duke it out.

The big question to me on the high number packs is whether or not all of them are blue and red (instead of green and red). I've never seen a definitive answer to this but believe the original scheme was blue and red.

A PSA 6 and a PSA 7 sold(maybe) on ebay today. Both from the same seller with 0 feedback. The 6 sold for 1775.00 and the 7 sold for 1950.00 but who knows with a seller with no feedback.

I wasn't aware of that, Ben, but that sure sounds fishy and might explain the big drop in prices realized.

He told me he bought them in Heritage, but didn't respond when I asked him why he sold them so cheaply.

My gut tells me the new owners are going to be in for a big surprise when the packs don't arrive.

So if there's only one in the Pop Report that has sold at auction, can the OP show a screen capture that this new grade actually happened?
Other possibility is that the one that sold was cracked and the flip was sent back to PSA for pop report removal, but surely someone would have recorded a pack break of 1952 Topps on youtube... right?

Here's a pack opening of a GAI 6.5.

And something I'd never seen before: there's a "company" that grades Christmas Rack Packs! LOL And then a break of a XRPG 8.3 1952 "rack":

If his was recently graded, it may not show up in the pop report yet.

That's why I asked for a screen capture to confirm. Obviously the owner has documentation. Maybe it's on a shipping hold.

Default My apologies!

UPDATE/CORRECTION: MY FRIEND’S PACK WAS GRADED A PSA 7- NOT AN 8.

Yesterday when we met he told me it was an 8. Then last night he texted me it was actually a 7.

Apparently he also submitted a 62 Topps football pack that graded an 8 and he got the two pack/grades mixed up.

SORRY - Just the messenger here. Still a beast of a pack at a 7.

The pack that did grade an 8 looks like a 5 by the time they crushed it into the holder.

Actually, we had this discussion. Al Rosen (Indians) and Alan Rosen (Mr. Mint) are not the same guy.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al_Rosen Died 2015
https://www.boston25news.com/news/ic...dies/488353084 Died 2017

Edit: Maybe you knew that. A bunch of recent collectors may not realize.

Anthony pointed out the main reason why I buy and sell ungraded packs: they pushed an 8 into a holder and now it looks like a 5. I could not deal with that if it happened to any of my packs.
