Default Show Me The Card Fax

Why not? if the repair history of automobile can be tracked, why not a company modeled after Car Fax for our cardboard. Will it happen? No, for a number of reasons. Answers below

1. Should an A-1 body shop devalue your "wheels" because of a fender bender?

2. Should an A-1 card doctor devalue your card because his work cannot be detected?

3. Would PSA do a better job than Car Fax in detecting alterations?

4. Does it really matter to an insane baseball card flipper?

Answers

1. No.

2. Yes or No depending on whether you're buying or selling.

3. No. If PSA required employees to remove their shoes at the front door every day, everyone would get a new pair of shoes daily.

4. Sadly no.

Impractical.

That means every card ever printed would have to have a serial number attached to it. A "CIN" (card identification number) as it were. How else would anyone be able to track any 'modifications' or repairs to that card without the associated CIN.

Big non-starter.

Great idea! I'd love to know if any parts were replaced on my cards!

First things first though. Let's all band together and put some pressure on Carfax to start including reports about whether or not our cars have ever been washed, and if so, how many times?! All these car doctors taking their cars through car washes need to be tracked down! I have some ideas about how we might be able to implement this. We can partner with local car washes to install license plate scanners and upload the data to the cloud.

But what if it is a Cobb or a Ruth or the original Batmobile?

This would discriminate against those of us who wash their own cars.

I no longer have access to a fax machine, or else I would be all on top of this.
