Default Yet another T206 Wagner Ques.??

Posted By: Danny Grimes

I was reading in Tuff-Stuff magazine about "Holy Grail" cards T206 Wagner, 1952 Topps Mantle etc. etc. Anyways getting to the point it was stated that everyone's favorite friend Mr Mint Rosen once had, and sold a T206 Wagner ripped in half side to side (Selling one of the halves). Does anyone know what that sold for or opinions on what that could have sold for ?? Im just so friggin curious and im sure a few others might be too?

Thanks

Danny

Whew, vague recollection of something like that - late 80's early 90's? Would have been better if he sold the two halves separately.

I don't remember that one but I remember a "cut-out" wagner being auctioned off (I think in REA). This goes back to maybe 1997 or 1998 - maybe someone will remember better. However, I can remember that it was cut along the head to make it look like a pop-up card - something like batter-up.

I remember seeing a torn in half Wagner in Mr. Mint's display case at the 1991 Nationals. At the time both were in the same top loader and the price was $50K.

I doubt if it would be worth 50K even now, torn in half. But if Kevin can mend it, and have it slabbed in an AUTH holder, it would probably get twice that amount.

I also have a vague rememberence of a Wagner that had the orange background cut out, making it look like a die-cut - like Jay Berhen's T206 Johnson portrait.

Imagine taking an AUTHENTIC wagner...

Cutting it into 20 pieces and having them all Authenticated and selling them off as pieces of an original wagner!

Do you know how many people would love to buy something like this!

Eric - why not include them in full size cards and sell them in packs as insert cards...
