I'd like to add a Wagner, from his playing days, to my collection. Other than National Game or Tom Barker are there any cards from his playing days that are somewhat (<$500) afforable in G/VGish?<br>
thanks

Bob

The E91-C is pretty affordable. It's a little higher than your price range, but it's probably the only candy/tobacco Wagner that is possible for under $1K in decent condition.

Full disclosure: I have one of these for sale on eBay.

You can definitely pick up a decent looking Colgan's Chip card for around that amount.

Full disclosure: I wouldn't mind owning one of these in the future! happy.gif

Miguel,

You did not have to disclose that you have one for sale on eBay, you did not start the thread. But by you doing so shows you are a spammer.....low move IMHO

I think the Colgans Wagner would be a nice one and can be had, in mid grade, for under 1k...

Full disclosure- I don't have one for sale...

You could find a 1913 National Game Wagner for less than $500. (edited to add: oops, didn't see your "aside from national game" comment.

Full Disclosure - I sometimes sob uncontrollably when vacuuming.

Bobby,

If I had not disclosed that I had the card for sale, then it could have been construed as talking up the card with a hidden, ulterior motive for referencing that particular card. By disclosing my "conflict of interest," I was trying to give all the relevant information to the public. This, indeed, is what the purpose of "full disclosure" is.

I'm not sure why the name-calling attack was necessary, but to each is own.

Miguel

Full disclosure: I have no Honus Wagner cards, but if I did I would recommend them and overcharge on shipping.

You could pick up a high quality non-card Wagner item, like an autograph, photograph or pin.

Bobby lay of Miguel.

I see his post being nothing but helpful and truthful that in of itself is not something I see much.

If you could get your funds up to 1000-1500 that would open a lot more doors I think, but they would be lower grades. You could get an E90 in that range in fair to good shape.

There are also a few other post war options that are nice like the play ball and the Golden Press.

Disclosure: I don't know Miguel nor have I had any deals with him ever.

Looking for 1915 Cracker Jacks and 1909-11 American Caramel E90-1.

I see no maliciousness in the full disclosure. If Miguel's card on ebay helps the original poster to fill a void, that's great. If not... no harm done IMO.

Back to the topic... I would go for the Colgans Chip Wagner. A classic Wagner image on a semi-affordable card.

While not for sale this E254 Wagner only ran me in the neighborhood of $300, it is pretty presentable, and it actually pictures Wagner (not Joe Tinker (E91C)).

Thanks to all who've posted. BTW, I'm fine with Miguel's post about his auction, I just don't have any interest in E91 C cards.

For the record, there's nothing wrong or errant with recommending a card and saying you have one for sale. From a practical perspective, if the original poster liked the recommendation and wished to buy one, he would need to locate a seller. Hiding a current sale wouldn't help the collector, or anyone else as far as I can see. If a collector doesn't think much of the recommendation, he's free to dismiss and move on to other recommendations.

The Max Stein in lower grade might be possible, as might a Pinkerton scorecard if one ever showed up for sale. Other than that, there isn't much. Too bad he predated the strip card era.

Well, since you didn't specify that you want a "Honus" Wagner, you could always get a "Heinie" Wagner T206 for ~$50 in SGC40/50 / PSA 3/4 shape wink.gif

Full Disclosure: I don't vaccuum happy.gif

I'm mean, okay thought the rules here on the front page is to not post any of your own auctions. And to only post an auction after it has ended. Yes he did not start the thread I agree but to say you have a card on eBay for sale is a violation of this rule. He very easily could of emailed the poster saying he has one for sale. But instead he choose not to and to post it on the board so everyone will know. There has been countless number of times I could suggest to posters to use my site but I never do.
