Default REA Cobb

Is the picture off? Seems to have almost no border L/R?

Compared to other American Beauty backs? The packs were thinner than normal T206 cigarette packs, so the cards were also cut narrower. You only have a single post, so I don't know how familiar you are with the set.

Page 13: "Manufacturing tolerances make exacting specification of a “standard” size for a T206
card difficult. A typical size is roughly 1 7/16” x 2 5/8”. T206 specimens exhibiting the American Beauty reverse are an exception. They were cut thinner to enable them to fit within narrower American Beauty cigarette packs."

I have quite a few more posts than the OP and had no idea either. I would have thought the same thing if I had noticed that listing.

Some are but not all. It's an enduring mystery as to why.

They often look so strange next to other T206. Not for the fat border crowd for sure.

That looks thin even for an AB, to me.

Is it normal that they are cut so thin that the back border doesn't even fit on the card? I honestly never noticed if they are as I'm not really into the back too much.

Agreed. ABs are really tough to tell from a scan

The theory that all American Beauty packaging was narrower has come up to debate in recent years. Here is an American Beauty card that makes you wonder how it could fit in a narrow package, as it is normal T206 width.
