1960 Topps variation?
I have a card # 293 from the 1960 Topps baseballset that is different from the others of Gene Conley that I've seen in my recent searches. It's not listed in The Standard Catalog and want to get some expert opinions on it. In the bottom right corner it has the words batting record appear below the yellow box about him playing for the Celtics. I don't believe it's miscut as that black bar for the 1960's appears about 1/2 inch down from the top of a regular card. Thanks for the help,Brett

I looked at 32 different Conleys on COMC and every one of them had the black bar.
https://www.comc.com/Cards,so,i100,=1960+conley Can you show one that doesn't have the black bar? Thanks. Last edited by cardinalcollector; 12-10-2017 at 12:05 PM. |

I think this card was discussed in the never ending variations thread. Depending on the cut more or less of the black bar shows but it seems to be present absent a bad miscut
Ironically the Conley does have a prominent front variation. The inset picture can extend beyond the border and in that version the uniform is mostly gray rather than white. This may be the result of a DP but not sure |

Thanks for the input. I looked closer at the others I looked up and they had the black to varying degrees just less on the ones that were miscut top to bottom . Thanks, Brett
