Just a heads up. I went to the pre-1930 baseball card category on eBay and there are a number (of the smae picture) of X rated pictures up. All of them are in the special category (whatever price bracket that is) that leads off the front page. VERY OBVIOUS!!!

Doesn't exactly look pre-1930 to me. Yikes! For the kids' sake, hopefully that gets removed quickly!

I think those pictures are more sinister than you think.

I once clicked onto one of them that was listed in U.S. Stamps and the next thing I knew my ebay account got shut down. Somehow by clicking on, all your account information gets stolen including your password. I had to reopen my account and it was a huge hassle. Stay away from them (unless they are really good looking).

That video is classic. It's the dumming down of America. We evolved and gained brain size by eating meat. Too many veggies now.

I'll do a test run on my students at school tomorrow and see how many of those questions they can answer. It could be interesting, my students are of the "Welcome Back Kotter" type.

Brad, ask people around you (I assume you posted it because you are Canadian), I'll bet they don't do any better. You gotta love idiotic stereotypes.

Canada is more in tune to the rest of the world, we're a common wealth country don't you know! And yes Canadians like to watch American NEWS and compare how different it is from the rest of the world.

Are you basing what you know of the USA by our news or have you spent a lot of time here? Not trying to start a fight or anything, just curious.

Rhett,

LOL I'm not basing the U.S.! I've relatives who live in the states and Canada, (North American union) where one in the same, remember?

I've lived in both country's, I feel that Canadians are more in tune with current events surrounding WAR, Politics and World affairs.
As for fighting(WAR), we fight on the same side (We always have)!

Canadians are also fighting the so called WAR on Terror! (Afghanistan)

Those interviews are funny. It seems to me that one of the features of living in a relatively free and prosperous society is that many of us are free to focus on some very narrow and trivial things. It's an unfortunate possibility. At the same time, I wouldn't be surprised if the interviewer sometimes stumbled across Americans who could answer any question that he threw at them. Are Canadians more worldly? It's hard to generalize: having spent 6 years in Toronto, it seems to me that the average Torontonian knows neither more nor less about world affairs than does the average Bostonian or New Yorker. But Canadians do know infinitely more about our culture, economy, history, politics, etc. than we do about theirs. That is because they find it somehow interesting.

Results from student test

Total tested - 36 students

#1 - Country that starts with "U" - 35

#2 - Coalition of the willing - 0 (I think if I had asked them to define the "coalition forces" they would have done much better)

#3 - Religion of Israel - 9

#4 - Who won the Vietnam war? - 5

#5 - Who is Fidel Castro? - 10

#6 - Sides of a triangle - 33

#7 - UK currency - 11

I didn't think this was totally terrible for kids from the so-called wrong side of the tracks, some of which have probably never traveled much outside of their home state. Some of their answers, while wrong, were at least on topic.

Uh, Brad...
More in tune with events? As far as war is concerned, the U. States and Canada have certainly NOT always fought on the same side ("we always have"). Check your 18th and early 19th century history, my friend. Of course, if your point of which citizen is more knowledgable, maybe that's the United States side of you commenting rather than the Canadian.

(by the way, it's "countries")

Brad,

"we always have" sort of implies, well, always.

Yes, I meant the War of 1812, as well as the Seven Years War and the American War for Independence (Note I didn't say the Revolutionary War, it wasn't a revolution, but that's not a discussion for this forum).

Somehow we tend to forget about things that happened two hundred years ago and dismiss them as they weren't as significant as that which had happened within a more recent period of time.

Sadly, not only does the average person have limited knowledge or interest in current events as that first video shows, but most are completely, and sadly, clueless about history in general. But they do know who Oprah is...

Be well,

Greg

Greg,

Refresh my memory, who won the WAR of 1812?

This is the reason why I was talking present day (current events).

Brad,

This isn't the place to get into a big conversation on that. Let's just say there's more to history than what meets the eye.

Back to baseball...
