Default Early Babe Ruth photo with unusual characters

I was deleting some of my ebay watch list item and came upon this photo. I decided to take a closer look and found these guys in the background.

what hell is going on here? Curious about the forums thoughts.

A little Amos and Andy blackface routine for the kids? Yikes.

Looks like a minstrel troupe and a room I wouldn't want to be in.

I know it was a common practice during those days. I just wonder what the heck is going on with young kids present. They're near the mic, so I assume they're doing some sorta singing act?

I'm sure it was some "comedy" routine. Thinking about that room makes me ill.
