Default Obscure 1940 Play Ball UER

In my research for a SABR blog post I stumbled across a UER from the 1940 Play Ball set that I hadn't seen noted anywhere on the internet or in the Standard Catalog.

I suspect several of you ran across it as you built your own 1940-1941 Play Ball collections, but perhaps it will be new to many of you.

As Lewis is a lefty, the UER is with the 1940 card, not the 1941. Similar to the 1957 Topps Hank Aaron or 1989 Upper Deck Dale Murphy, the issue seems to be a reversed negative. However, the symmetry of the Senators "W" logo on the cap and sleeve makes the error harder to detect than with these other cards.

I had Trading Card DB add the UER to their records since other reversed negative cards generally receive such annotation, even when uncorrected.

My full article is here, in case anyone wants to dive deep into the 1940 origins of the 1941 Play Ball set.

And for the heck of it, I made a custom card that corrects the error.
