Default S74(1) question

Posted By: John S

I own a few of these without the backing. I would like to add an example to my collection with the backing still intact. What are some tell-tale signs that a backing has been re-attached (as I have been warned that many backed examples are not original). Any tips would be appreciated.

Default S74(1) question

Posted By: Keith O'Leary

Although I know these same backs came on the rear of the colored actress silks, I've never seen many of those and would think the availablity would make it tough from the get go (or are we talking re attaching the back to the silk it came from?). Its been a whille since I've looked at any close, but if memory serves me right, the back and the silk were exactly the same size leading me to believe they were cut with the backs on therefore making it difficult to match a back with a silk sizewise (if we're not talking about attaching the back to the silk it came from).

Personally, I'd prefer keeping the actress silk with the back .

Good to see you again in Reading John.
