Default Paige photo cgc authenticated

Have my doubts about this being a type 1 but wanted other peoples opinions. Its CGC authenticated which i wasnt aware authenticated photos. Does this look ok or more like a type 2 or 3. The image itself was taken in 1941

This appears to be a photo using a copy negative. Many Culver photos are 'type 1', but I have also seen ones printed with copy negatives. A photo is taken of a photo and that is used to make prints. One of the giveaways to me is the black border. When you make contact prints from glass negatives you get these black borders, but those are mainly common in pre-1920's photos that are usually smaller than 5x7 or so. This was very common with Bain, Thompson and other news photographers of that period. When they made a copy negative they would use tabs to hold the photo down on a grid easel - copy board and photograph it. They used white tabs to hold the photo flat and you can usually see them on the edges. That appears to be what this is.

Perhaps David Cycleback will chime in with an opinion.
