That's a nice bonus when the "other guy" turns out to have coached a team to an NFL title.
Even though I have a copy of a book, really a pamphlet about football, by Potsy from the 30s, I never specifically researched him. The only reason I wasn't surprised to see him at Illinois was because in Red Grange's bio, he actually says "On the football field I tried my darnedest to be like my two special heroes, All Americans Bart Macomber and Potsy Clark of Illinois." Haven't posted anything in this thread for a while so thought I'd update it with a few new additions. Went to the Chantilly CSA show last weekend and picked up some nice Diamond Matchbook covers. IMHO pre-war matchbooks are underrated as there are many HOFers / Stars that have matchbooks but no other cardboard image. It's a great way to fill in the holes in collection if you are trying to get images of pre-war players.
Ox Emerson should be in the HOF A few stars that are also in the Chicle set! jeff |

These PC's don't show Thorpe in his football uniform but in his NY Giants uniform in 1913 instead.
Thorpe marching with team before 10/24/1913 game in Blue Rapids, KS Thorpe batting later in the day. He went 2-5 with a run scored. jeff |
