Default November Pickups

Wanted this set for a long time, but just never got around to it. They aren't that expensive, and 3-D is cool!

Thanks everyone for the kind words, and I love there are 2 Ruth cards. Good bang for the buck.

My first pickup in a while. It was a bit of an impulse purchase, but the price was right.

David, the Kellogg's ATG set is a longtime favorite of mine. Came in the greatest junk-breakfast product ever:

They were basically Pop-Tarts with extra sugary filling and frosting. One of the brown sugar-cinnamon ones could jack me up for hours.

Brian, those Mays exhibits rock! I love the PC back variations...

I had one card from this set from my childhood (Ruth). I always thought I got it in a box of cereal. So these only came with these sweet rolls? I can't imagine my mom buying even one box!

Say Hey. This card isn’t going to cause anyone at PSA to stop what they are doing and gawk anytime soon, but for $13 I figured it’s hard to go wrong with Willie. Card has multiple small creases, but still looks decent in a top loader. ‘64 was another year for an “odd choice” Willie picture - as Topps was very prone to do with him for some reason in the 1960’s. Is his left eye just closed, or did he go a few rounds with Ali the night before this picture was taken?

And one more for Jenx34, as I received this today.

What, you say? "Nothing special here", "Lots of those on the 'Bay". Well, while this particular card may not be special to you, it is THE FINAL CARD I needed for a 1956 set. Finished, done, check.

What a beautiful set.

That was also the last card I needed for my 1956 Dodgers team set! Well done. Wow, what a beautiful set to own. What are your 2-3 favorites from it? Triple Crown Year Mantle? Clemente?

Besides the Mantle and Clemente (both classic cards), some of the others I especially like are the Johnny Podres, Robin Roberts, Carl Furillo, Joe Adcock and Rocky Bridges.

Landed this mailday today to finally replace a copy of this card I obtained in a trade from someone as a kid (this would have been the late 1980's, not the 60's...) and was foolish enough to not hold onto. I've always loved the '63 design. In looking for this card again I was surprised how difficult it was to find a truly mid-grade one. I guess the '63's were particularly condition sensitive that way; it seemed my choices were mostly VG or below or PSA 7, 8, i.e. wayyy out of my price range. Anywho. Nicer than the other '64 Willie I posted last week. "EX" cards have always been intriguing to me. Mainly because when grading and particularly TPG grading standards seem to shift over time, this grade seems to be impacted the most...this card is in an older slab but still seems to be a pretty solid mid-5 to me.

Wow! That's a beautiful Mays card.

I picked up a Topps 1977 Phil Niekro. I like the photo and color on this card.
