I read the messages here, but my husband is the collector. He bid (under my name....Grrrrrr) on this card, http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=31722&item=1971442625&rd=1

Anybody have any experience with this dealer? My stomach is upset, do I need to go buy ALOT of Rolaids?

to not bid on any cards that just generally do not have an appealing look. This cuts out half the cards right off the top of his collecting ways!

I am not exactly certain what you are worried about, but if you are worried that you will send money and not get the card, I think the odds of this are very low, given the seller's feedback record. He has recent positives on transactions where he shipped $100+ material, so he will probably ship this.

He could go sour on you, but you could also be struck by lightning, and his going sour is probably a lot less painful than that.

The biggest concern in cases like this is that there will be a difference of opinion regarding the card's condition. It's usually not a matter of not getting the item you win, the question is whether or not you'll like it.

I am worried he has never spent this much on a card (at least that I know of) He was named after Gehrig and has always wanted to have a card from when he was playing. Thanks for you advice.

Shari,
The card is fine although not in great condition as collecting goes. It is probably in the fair-good range....as long as he doesn't pay more than around $350 for it he will be fine....I have seen that same card, in like condition, go for $250-$400.....gosh I sure hope my doesn't start reading the board...I will have some 'splainin to do I can see it now...."oh yeah honey, I sold some to pay for these new ones..or they weren't that much...or ......" regards all......and BTW Shari don't be worried about the ones you know about...be worried about the ones you don't know about.....

Thank you very much for putting my mind at ease. He just wants the card because it is his namesake so as long as it is in fair condition he will be very happy. I am just nervous spending that amount of money for something I can't actually put my hands on...kinda like buying the car without the test drive. S
