By the way...emailed the seller and said "Just so you know, this card is a fake, there are no Matty portraits with a Piedmont 350-460 back, should remove to avoid a negative from someone after they notice".

His response..."I dont know, it's from an old collection"

I don't know what he doesn't know...I didn't ask him a question...

Regarding the above post from Mark -

How he just purchased a bunch of cards from "an old collector's family who recently paste away "

maybe he was trying to go with the unknown olde Englishe spelling of "past" (paste) which could be easily misconstrued as "passed" away by the uneducated idiots that would be bidding on this lot...

I don't think that includes the potential shill bidder #6... I sure hope that bidder #4 stops bidding because this would force the seller into paying more for the final value fees when they have to pony them up because the shill went too high...

Not a bad looking counterfeit Matty. That other auction looks very fake. Those poor schmucks(I was one at one time). Despicable.

Graded Matty above;

Yep, that's the same lot. And if he took the backs down, it's so that bidders won't so easily spot the fake red Piedmonts. Now it is tougher to tell!

Now the idiot sends me this reply after telling him his cards are fake and should be taken down...

"what do you know about law? You are violating the law by providing false information because you can't get what you want. it's called false reporting if you want lesson about the law. accusing me on what you don't know about is called false allegation and if you keep sending me your idiotic emails that is called ISP violation of conduct and if you insist on emailing me while i don't have any business with you it's a cyber crime. If you try to teach a law student about law you to step back"

I probably shouldn't have ever contacted him again..but after his initial response to me...I "asked the seller" a question again..stating that I've reported his items and I hope he gets punished to the full extent of the law....that's the reason for the stupid message he sent me back.

He sounds extraordinarily stupid. What happens when he tries to prosecute you for harassing him in cyberspace, and it's determined his card really is a fake. Who gets in trouble, you or him?

you contacted him because maybe he did not know it was a fake. Obviously he knew it was a fake and is belligerent about it. Don't waste your time with him.

I have to agree with Fred on the spelling -- I think he spelt it correctly.

Or maybe it was a simple typo -- wanting to say waste away.

Also another short cut I discovered: To italic a word (as so cleverly done above), you don't have to use normal HTML, all you need is to put an * directly before and after the word. Haven't stumbled on underline or bold, but they probably exsist.

Noblesville, Indiana is a small (but growing very rapidly) town about 40 minutes or less from downtown Indianapolis. I would love to take a real T206 or Cracker Jack up to him and show him what a real one looks like. But I am afraid even doing that wouldn't convince him that his is fake.

On another note, I would love to show all of you a couple of responses I received from a seller of paper cut-outs (there was a seperate thread about this guy a month or so ago) but I can't right now. Too bad to because you would love the spelling.

David

Haha, I love how he photographed the card on top of a bible
like that will add credibility or something.
"But, but... he's Christian, he
wouldn't knowingly sell a fake card!"

WWJD! Hahaha...

Please let this guy know that a basic, rudimentary knowledge of grammar is essential in the practice of law and his inability to write coherently is a dead giveaway that he is not a law student as he would never have scored high enough on his LSAT to be admitted anywhere other than some matchbook cover law school.

Truth is he can't handle the 5th grade spelling Bee either.

The seller has piss-poor feedback. Also, the current high bidder(#9) became a member just today, is this a shill or one of the forum members trying to play along?

Wow. Check out the ending price. This is flat out stealing. Let's hope the 0 feedback bidder becomes a non-paying bidder.

This kind of thing just makes me shake my head.

By the way, if the buyer were to be alerted now that it is a fake, would that be considered auction interference?

Joann
