Default Signed DiMaggio ball june 27 1941

I have a ball given to me by my father with a letter from Mrs. Clark Griffith during DiMaggio's epic run, I also have a pic of my Dad at another game at Griffith Park with my Grandfather sitting with Harry S Truman and the Old Fox himself after throwing a ball onto the field, I also have a book of letters from Harry S to his wife Bess talking about that very game...my daughters could care less about the ball or baseball itself so i was going to put it on the market...any idea of it's worth?

Awesome ball. Assuming all the provenance checks out you might be looking at $5000 or more but I'm just guessing here.

i did not say that my Dad was at "the" game the day the ball was signed, but my Grandfather swore Harry S Truman into office and the pic i have at home not here in the office is of my Dad, my Grandfather, Harry S and Clark Griffith himself...i will dig up the book of letters Harry wrote to Bess which mentions my Dad and Grandfather and Clark at a game and verify that date. This is the direct connection to Mrs. Clark Griffith

Tommy, if your grandfather was Chief Justice Vinson, then you have another huge element to the provenance, it might not add a whole lot of more value, but as in art, when you can prove an unbroken line of provenance which includes famous historical figures, that's what makes an item truly "special".

You've got a fantastic ball there and thanks for sharing it.

If you decide to put it on the market I would highly recommend Robert Edward Auctions. I'm not affiliated except as a customer.

Default hmmmmmm

I was wondering the same thing? Would they really get the consignor the most money for a BASEBALL?

Certainly the ancillary items have their greatest value in support of the provenance of the ball or am I just "off base"?

It's somehow a backhanded "shot" at PSA and/or Spence (based on the source).

Obviously this AH wouldn't provide the best exposure or realize the top money for the client. They probably have some policy of not using JSA/PSA, and do their own authentication (just guessing it's something like that).

well i did manage to take some more pics of the ball but i am not happy with the results. i spoke with the manager of REA and told him i would have the ball shot by a pro and he said it was not necessary for it to make it to the upcoming auction...here is another shot of it and my Dad, my Granfather, Harry S and Clark Griffith at a Senators game IMG_8194.jpg

$5,000? That's pretty pricey in my opinion
