One quality company acquiring another quality company. I just hope Huggins and Scott continues to operate as a separate entity, as they seem to have a nice niche in GU stuff. REA's GU offerings used to be excellent a few years ago, but now they are almost non-existent it seems.

One is exclusively auction (mostly mid- and high-range graded), and the other has a retail location and auctions lots of raw stuff. At first glance, it's logical to keep each in its own established lane and maybe cross some items between.

At least, I hope. There aren't a whole lot of places to find pre-war raw lots.

I agree they are both great companies and should be interesting to see what their business strategy will be moving forward

The retail/store front operation in Silver Spring, MD, goes by the name House of Cards. I see no mention in the press release regarding REA acquiring the retail operation. My guess is that the auction business and the retail business ere two separate legal entities and that REA acquired only the auction business.

For some reason the email of the announcement went to my spam folder. I've had nothing but positive experiences with both companies so I would expect more of the same as they go forward together.

Awesome news for REA!! They have been cranking out auction after auction each month.

I have enjoyed buying from both companies over the years. I typically have been able to get my cards at lower prices from Huggins & Scott more often than Robert Edward.

I think it's great news. Both are great auction houses and I hope they do keep them as is and separate businesses. I like the selection in H&S and the prices a lot. REA should stay as the elite house with more of the high end stuff while H&S keep the lower grade and collector friendly price point stuff.

I guess this means we'll now have pick-up and "My catalog arrived!" threads for Huggins & Scott auctions.

Can I just say this is a testament to
Bryan Dwyer

And his hobby reputation and his team's reputation as well that H&S was willing to become part of their team.

From what I hear the team works very hard at REA but kudos to this move because it not only gets the H&S team but if you read the H&S Catalog, they are able to have a network of people throughout the country who continue to their success.

Putting all that hobby knowledge under one umbrella is a true accomplishment

Regards
Rich

REA added one of the nicest, most knowledgeable guys in the hobby, Ron Oser. Good luck to the new entity.
