Unknown Player c1914 Philadelphia Athletics

A few clues - it appears as though 1914 is the only year this home uniform with that style of hat was used. There is a toe plate on right cleat so he's a pitcher....looks like Spring Training grounds which in 1914 for the A's was Jacksonville, FL - 1913 was San Antonio.

edited to add: It's possible this was a 1915 players since it appears to be Spring Training - I have my suspicions, but would like to hear other opinions first.

Dan, I feel that your photo is Rube Schauer. Born Dimitri Ivanovich Dimitrihoff in Odessa Russia 1891. He was one of five native Russians to play in the Majors. This photo is from his final year with the A's in 1917 exiting with a 7-16 record for the year. He also played here in Wisconsin, earlier in his career, with Superior of the Northern League.

Dimitri Dimitrihoff! A new name to add to my "Favorite Odd Baseball Names" list! Subtract the final syllable from his name and we would have had baseball's answer to Sirhan Sirhan (minus the mayhem!).
