Default Look at what I just bought today! Half of the A&G N28 set!

Someone I know called me because someone just walked in with some old tobacco cards. Most were non sport but all from the tobacco era. He had these in the stack of oarsmen and billiard players. I corrected him and showed him what these were. Well we made a deal and I bought this half set of Allen and Ginters. He even got a few empty cigarette boxes that most likely held non sports or other than baseball sports cards.

Anyway, what do you guys think of this. I just love them! No creases on any of them but the Commisky and Kelly have what looks like small indents like fingernails were pressed on them. Now I am half way done the N28 set!

Congrats! I'm a big fan of the N28s & it looks like you've got a good start on the set.

Wow! Those look great! I love the N28s, and A&G cards in general. I have examples of all the small-sized sets, and almost all of the large-sized sets (like N43).

Congrats! These cards are very beautiful and tough to find in any grade. I don't collect baseball, but I do have the A&G N28 John L. Sullivan card and it's probably the most important prewar boxing card ever made.

Nice pick up. I have always relished the A & G's......love the solid feel and look of the cards. Great start on the set.

Default like to see

the boxes!

Saying any Sullivan card might be most important anything might be a bit of a stretch (many more obscure and exciting ones like the Metropolitan Opera card/hold to light/etc.) BUT all in all a very nice score. Seen by some as a bit pedestrian (simple portrait head on a white background) the N28 has always been a kind of blue chip set albeit with little swing potential in either direction. The likenesses are quite good and the set is full of sport luminaries whose accomplishments have survived the years.......

All that and YOU now own an Anson!
