Hi Leon, Nice pick up! It looks like Scott is looking to cash out of the Red's before yours hit the market.

Be well Brian

I have yet to see a Croft's red back that's centered nicely. Odd.

Nice pick up, though.

edited for being really tired

Had I wanted to sell any of these I wouldn't have posted them here. They are so neat they are staying put in the ole collection. The only reason I sold one is that it was a dupe... I would have used the B/S/T if I were selling any of them....best regards

You left out portfolio.

He has a good eye.
Buy low, (hopefully) and sell high.
Good thing he's honest, and has a sense of humor.

cool cards Leon. any interesting stories behind where you found them? I thought you had previously owned the only red-back known....now you picked up 4 more! wow.

It's a trade secret and if I told ya I would have to kill ya . I found 5 of these in one group and I already had 1. I sold the only dupe I had (which is unlikely in itself) to help subsidize the rest of them. It's the one on ebay now. I know Pete C. has one, I had one, and David Bryan auctioned one on ebay a year or two ago. Contrary to the person selling one on ebay's story it went for about $2200.00 at that time, not 4k. I remember because I was ready with a big $1600 snipe at the end hoping to pounce. It was only at something like $600 until the last minute. As it was, my snipe didn't even get placed as it was too low. This grouping makes a total of 8 that I have ever seen. I think that's the number that most of my peers have seen too as we have had discussons on these before. The 5 in my collection aren't going anywhere in the forseeable future....best regards

Leon, what's the story on the red backed ones (if you know)? I'm curious to whether it was a printing muff or were they possibly distributed differently?

I really don't know why they are so scarce. We could hypothesize all day long about them. Maybe since all that have been found are o/c they were discarded instead of distributed? That is a total guess but what's for sure is they are very scarce and all that I have seen were o/c and I have never seen a HOF'er. regards

There is at least "an" HOF'er with a red back....my guess is there are more out there but no one cares too much about backs, most of the times.....I would still think it's much scarcer than the blue versions though....

First - someone catches Honus sneaking a puff on a butt behind the batting cage.

Then we have people laughing at the Plank plate prank.

Now we have folks coming out of the woodwork with their Blue Backed E92 Croft's Hall of Famers.

It's gettin to that you can't tell a decent tall Tale, .... or is that Tail.

Are the blue backs significantly tougher than the black backs?
