Would that be a post career pro model bat I am thinking? My limited research has not found another cork grip Lajoie bat. Not a bat expert however so take that for what it is worth.

I don't know anything about these bats, but isn't the label from before 1916? If it was made in 1915, could it not have been used in Larry's last 2 years in the majors?

Do you know the weight of the bat? I believe that it should be 40+ oz. in order to fit the Lajoie specs to a tee. As for length, those records say that he ordered 35.5" bats from H&B. On the other hand, MEARS has seen a lot of non-H&B Lajoie bats, and they seem to think that a Lajoie bat can range from 33" to 35". I would google "Lajoie game used bats" to get a good sense of how various types of Lajoie bats have been selling for the last few years. Very interesting bat!

Thats a pre-1916 model for sure, based on centerbrand. I did extensive research on Cork Grips. this would be the first Lajoie i have seen come to market. Nice piece

Ah I see. My bad. 1914-1916 label period he was still an active player. I forgot he played out the string those last few years...always think of him as pre-1914.

I have a Lajoie bat from 1905-1910 and it measures around 33 inches. It weighs around 42 ounces. Nice bat though

1. in my recollection of research, i do not believe i came across a photo of Nap using holding one. We do have Cobbs account of working with L.S. in designing, and we have honus wagner holding one as well. (Ruth later on as well) just to name a significant few. Being that Nap had a LS contract, i wouldnt be surprised if he at least got a handful to try. (we see this with the Oil Tempered Block Letter models from Crawford and SPeaker as well)
