Which sniping service do you use? How reliable has the service been?
I have used Auctionsniper occasionally but they seem to be having trouble with failed bids due account verification difficulty on eBay.

Default I've used Gavelsnipe

Don't bid all that often, but never had a problem. One time, right after having had to change my ebay user name, I placed a bid and before it would let me finish, notified me that I had a different name I needed to register with them before I could proceed. Was impressed that it figured that out instantly. Oh, and it is free.

+1 - Only 1 issue in almost 7 years and that was an eBay fail as it turns out

I have never used a sniping service, but I am curious. Are they usually used for auctions with hard endings like ebay? Would a snipe service be useful for auction houses like Heritage, Love of the Game, Clean Sweep, etc. which utilize soft endings with 15 min rules and the like?

I use KenSnipe.....I sit at my computer andput a bid in with 2 to 3 seconds left. Win a high percentage of the time and if I d not win, the item gets expensive for others.

Gixen - I love it - much better than sniping manually like I used to do.

For someone who asked about AH, Gixen is just for eBay - you have to provide your eBay username and password.

I don't think sniping is the right strategy for AH anyway.

What I find for AH is that the bid increments are far apart enough that if someone wants to outbid me, they can't do it by 2 cents like on eBay - they have to go up to the next increment at which point, I just tip my cap to them - they wanted it more. Not to mention AHs have extended bidding. By definition a snipe needs a fixed auction end time.

Thank you, John. I have been running similar scenarios through my head when wondering if sniping services would help outside of ebay. You summed it up well for me!!
