Default 2014 National Sheraton?

Does anyone know why the Sheraton is not available for reservations? I was told all rooms available were booked by someone from the committee?

Default Hotel

I booked via Priceline and have a hotel for $70 a night with shuttle service back and forth. Not bad for the price and with Breakfast.

How is the traffic in Cleveland? I am thinking of booking a hotel downtown. Is it hard driving to the convention center?

You shouldn't have any issues, most traffic will be going the opposite direction both morning and evening rush hour.

You can also take the train from downtown to the IX Center.

I agree with Mike. It shouldn't be an issue, since you'd be going away from rush hour both in and out.. Also, the convention center is a pretty straight shot. And as someone else mentioned, you could always take the RTA back and forth. BUT, I'm not sure if I'd be taking too many high priced items on the RTA. I've never been on it, and I'm not sure of the security..

Had this been here last year, it would've been a different story though. Luckily, the 1st bridge of the inner-belt project is done. So the vast majority of the detours and closures have worked themselves out by now. I don't believe the construction of the 2nd bridge will effect anything, as the 1st is currently carrying all traffic..

Be careful though. I did a bunch of work on that bridge so there's a slight chance it could fall just kidding.

As of earlier today the Sheraton is sold out to the public on the dates of the Convention. There are still rooms left at close hotels. Most of the closest are in the $110-$120 per night (plus all taxes). If anyone needs to make a reservation one option is to call conference housing, who has tabs on what's available and what isn't, for the area. I am sure there are a lot more options further away...

I'm surprised so many people are staying in downtown. I thought the convention center was in downtown but looked at the map and it's like 20 minutes away.

The convention center is downtown. Just re-opened after new construction. It's a pretty cool project that is underground with a park over the top of it. Unfortunately it's only 375,000 sq ft of exhibit space. The IX has 1,000,000 sq ft, and is a lot closer to the airport..

Also like to note that traffic and parking downtown would be a nightmare if they used the convention center..

Sorry I was referring to the I-X center where the show is at. I thought it was downtown but it's like 20 minutes from like the ball park and stuff.

If you don't want to rent a car and want to do things in the Cleveland area then you are better off staying downtown. Don't eat at the hotel food, etc. there are plenty of inexpensive places to eat bfast and lunch on the streets.

Plus there are underground places to eat with resaonable prices as well.

Also, you can walk to the Rock Hall from a downtown hotel where it's a specail trip from the I-X Center.

In retrospect, I wish I had stayed at a decent downtown hotel during the show rather than any of the ones we have stayed at.
