Prior to numbered cards, many "A-name" cards were subject to very similar type of wear that #1 cards
were. Therefore, your fine looking Ames certainly qualifies for this Thread.....a really sharp card.

Thanks Ted - I never realized that, though it obviously makes sense that that would be the case.

It's a close call as to which one of your E93 Ames cards are the nicest.

It isn't often that one sees a 100 yr-old 1st card this sharp.

And, here we have two identical ones....Thanks for sharing them with us.

These Goodwin Champions are usually found pasted in old photo albums and I am not sure if it matters,
alphabetically, which one is the 1st card.

The 1950 Bowman #1, Mel Parnell card, is certainly a tough card to find in Ex or better condition.

Also, any of the 8 cards in the 1972 Topps Test issue are tough to find.....and, Satchell Paige is
the #1 card in this seldom seen set.

Thanks......the N162 cards, set, and A36 album (Goodwin Champions) are my favorites.

There is a "mystique" about the quality of the Lithography on these cards, and especially
the artistry in the N162 album that I feel has never been exceeded in the BB card hobby.
Over the years I have upgraded my N162's so that all 50 cards in my set are as nice as
this Anson and Andrews.

If a collector alphabetized his Tobacco cards in 1909 when the 150 Series first was available
this card of Mr. Abbaticcio would have been on top of the stack.

When the 350 series was available in 1910....Mr Abstein, more than likely,
occupied the top of the stack.

A stack, or an album of just the 48 Southern Leaguers would have Mr. Bastian first.

In, or about 1911, when the 48 cards of last series (460-only) were issued Ed Abbaticchio
was once again at the top of the stack.
