Default What sets are people close to finishing?

Posted By: Josh Adams

I am 10 cards away from the 1933 Goudey set. Need 2 Ruths and some commons.

Of those of us here, what sets are you all close to completing? What cards did you find difficult to acquire (if you are doing a 206 set, well, that is sort of obvious!), and do you have any good stories about any pickups to help complete your respective sets?

Josh

Somehow I got further away from the Monster, while keeping the same total number of cards. I recently acquired a Magie error card from a Net54 member (thanks again!), but had to sell and downgrade some other cards in order to make the purchase without affecting my bank statement. As a result, I sold my Johnson portrait card and will eventually be in the market for another.

Since many people few the T206 as essentially complete without the Magie (and the Wagner, Doyle and Plank), I am now technically without a complete set -- even though I still have the same number of T206 cards this week as I did last week, when I had a complete set (minus the big four). I suppose now I have the complete set (minus the big three and the big train).

I am six away from my backs set of T206s (beaters).
This set will take me a while --- mainly because I am not really actively pursuing the cards needed.

I use one of Trae's framing examples as my checklist (my cards are not the ones shown... its just a checklist).

Since I collect a lot of offbeat stuff, there often isn't a way to say for certain that the set is complete.

I know I am very close to T219, T219, T220, T225 and some exhibit sets (at least front poses; master sets, fugetaboutit).
