Default 1930's ALL STAR BASEBALL GAME OF THE CENTURY Scorecard

7 x 10 folding scorecard, copyright 1931 by Joe Marr...issued by John J. Hayes Hats / Stores for Men

there are notes written in pencil (for example: "Frisch homer" and "Lefty Grove pitching") in a few places

NL roster (managed by John McGraw) features Hubbell, Terry, Frisch, Traynor, Hartnett, Klein, Paul Waner, Lefty O'Doul , etc.

AL roster (managed by Connie Mack) features Grove, Gomez, Gehrig, Gehringer, Foxx, Cronin, Dickey, Simmons and Ruth, etc.

any info regarding the game (date / location, etc.)???

thanks.

DS

It would appear to be an All star game program.
I would think you could pin down the year based on the listed roster.
If you cross check whose in the program with one of the baseball reference site, you should be able to pin down the exact year.
If I remember correctly this late, the first AS game was 1933.

Hopes that helps,
Mark

Also...The branding of "All Star Game of the Century" might lead one to think that it was the first. I would think the first AS game would have a significant amount of hype to it like that.

It is from the 1933 All-Star game. Events match up. Cool piece.

Default Thank You - Mark / Steven

just went to http://www.baseball-reference.com/bo...93307060.shtml and confirmed that it's definitely from the First All-Star Game (July 6, 1933) @ Comiskey.....

the "copyright 1931" screwed me up since it was two years prior to the inaugural game in 1933, leading me to believe that this may have been another exhibition game of some type...the copyright date may instead refer to the format of the scorecard?

thank you both for your assistance, and for teaching me to do a little bit of research before I post!
