Default Tuesday Nite Trivia......

OK guys,
For just one season, Joe DiMaggio and Ted Williams have THIS in common ?

This quiz should be easy.

Both wore #9 jersey, albeit not in the same season...not sure if this is the answer you are after.

In 1941 each had a statistic that has not been surpassed since? .406 for Ted and 56 games for Joe. Ted I feel like I know this answer because you've asked this before maybe.

Default Tuesday Nite TRIVIA......

Think elementary....the answer is not complex.

I'll throw Roy Hobbs in this mix..... as a hint.

Default Not sure about Hobbs, but....

In 1941 both Williams and DiMaggio appeared on a 1941 Playball baseball card! Great to meet and speak with you at the show Ted!

Good answer, but not the one I'm looking for.

I really enjoyed talking with you, and especially sharing our stories regarding Roberto Clemente.

As they did in 1939, the season Roy Hobbs (fictionally) played. I'm trying to think what else they had in common for only that 1939 season.

Sonny Stotur is the WINNER. He was the first to respond with the correct answer. DiMaggio wore #9 in his rookie season, 1936.
Frank Crosetti wore #5 in 1936. In 1937 DiMaggio wore #5.

Ted Williams wore #9 when his rookie season, 1939, officially began (and through out his career).

However, there is an interesting "twist" to Ted's uniform number(s). Can any of you figure out what I'm alluding to ?

Peter....you are the runner-up.

I vaguely remember this, it's something like Williams wore 5 at one point in the minors or in spring training.

You too, are a WINNER this evening. During Spring Training in 1939, Ted Williams wore #5. Ben Chapman wore #9. He was traded to Cleveland for the 1939 season.
Then Ted got #9.

I love these "numbers games".

Default More Trivia

Both DiMaggio and Williams posted 100-year hitting feats in 1941, yet neither led the AL in total hits that year.
