Default Pendleton GU Bat?

Hey Guys,

Found this bat at an antique place in town. Could this be legit? The bottom of the barrel has a "9" Pendleton's number on it and has been crossed off for 24. It has Atlanta Braves under his signature with the R161 Serial number. It shows some signs of use. Could this be legit for $35...probably no, but thought I would ask...

It could be, but a Pendleton bat is only worth in that $30-40 range.

I was wondering if the "24" on the bottom could mean that Sanders used it?

Could be used by sanders. Fits the time frame 91 to 94. Value wise don't forget he was MVP in 91

How about a couple of pics of the label and knob. That might be a nice bat

Unfortunately it hates the pic and won't upload. As I said it has a 9 written on it and then blacked out in Sharpie and has a 24 written on it too. The place also had what appeared to be a Kevin Mitchell Gu bat too. Would be happy to email for another opinion.

Default Barrel

The odd thing is the handle is pristine, but it shows signs of wear on the barrel...

I see no reason why that couldn't be a gamer.

BTW - my Malta book is completely falling apart!

So given the timeframe and the fact that it appears to have been GU by Pendleton and possibly Sanders, what is it worth?

I won't represent myself as a GU bat expert but I have bought 130+ Giants bats from the 1958-2000 era. From my experience (and I could be wrong), I think either a Pendleton gamer with "9" on the knob or a Sanders' gamer with "24" on the knob would be worth more than your "Pendleton issued; maybe used by Sanders bat." I'd say it's worth more than you paid. How much more, I couldn't say.

Default Not sure

Yea, I actually didn't buy it. I'm a Tigers collector so I wanted to dig a little bit. Given I do collect hofers and it seems plausible that Sanders used it, I will probably get it. They have a sale tomorrow so it will be $31. They also had a Kevin Mitchell bat too. It was really odd, the antique store had no sports items aside from these two GU bats.

Deion also used model R161 so that is a plus. Worth more than 35 bucks especially to Braves collectors. I wouldn't mind it either. Id pick it up
