Default Help Determining Players in this Program

Hey all,

I have this program from the 1946 Bob Feller All-Stars Tour. I don't have a date for the game, but Musial was in the lineup for Feller which means it is towards the latter part of the series, since Musial missed the beginning of the tour playing in the World Series.

Towards the end of the tour, the players playing varied quite a bit, and many of the original players (the ones featured throughout the program) are not in the lineup.

I was hoping to determine the players actually listed here. While the game was integrated, I think that in 1946, there is little chance the teams were, so I assume all the players would be Negro League players.

The lineup stated is:
  • Warren 2B - Possibly Jesse Warren, who played from 1940-1947 and played for the Washington Black Senators towards the end of his career, which would make sense given the game was likely on the West Coast
  • Robinson SS - Possibly Jackie Robinson, who played at least a few games in the series
  • Anderson LF
  • Summers CF - Possibly Lonnie Summers, who played from 1938-1949 and played almost every position including Outfield
  • Adkins RF
  • Scott 1B - Possibly Joe Scott who played from 1946-1950
  • Donnison 1B - Likely a late-game replacement)
  • Sewell 3B
  • E. Smith C (with Tabor listed, likely as a late game replacement)
  • Tabor - likely as a late game replacement - Possibly Earl Taborn who played for the Monarchs beginning in 1946
  • Moreland P - Possibly Nate Moreland
  • Peterson P

Thanks for the help!

I think these are some of your guys:

Anderson, lf - Orinthal Anderson, outfielder of the Birmingham Black Barons

Sewell, 3b - Probably meant to be Herb Souell of the KC Monarchs and Satchel Paige All-Stars

Moreland, P - I'd say you are correct on Nate Moreland being your guy. He was a regular on these tours

Gary, thanks for the help! I was wondering if Sewell might be Souell, but wasn't sure. Really appreciate the help on the others.

Are there any sources you'd recommend to try and figure it out. I tried looking for the names in the Biographical Encyclopedia of the Negro Baseball Leagues (Riley) and obviously reviewed the programs themselves, but would love to find a better approach.
