Suddenly, I've got considerably more HOF cards than I first realized.

Using the conditions that allowed George Kelly and Pee Wee Resse to be voted in, I have just upgraded all my cards to Hall of Fame status.

the bidder is a different kind of a guy.....I have had dealings with him a little bit.....not a bad guy just not an everyday person....like most of us.....I know he has auctioned a lot of these N172's and does know what he's doing.....but this card is overpriced, and has misinformation, and he bid on it..... a common with no special characteristics should go for $1375.00 in NMT?..to each their own....regards all

i wasnt trying to say that was a good price or anything,or say it was ok that he mislabeled that, just saying he(cardsold) more than likely knows the cards value and knows he know hall of famer....just wanted to know,is williamson considered a common in the price guide? I know he was the single season home run leader(due to an unfair home field advantage) for 35 years till some guy named Ruth hit 29 in 1919

He is the same price as commons at $1500.00- NMT in the SCD....so maybe $1350.00 is not bad for a common HOF N172 in NMT......seems a little pricey but they have gone up nicely in value in the last few years.....JAY- your thoughts?....regards all

I've seen people try to hype Williamson as I think he was one of the home run kings of the 19th century. I think it's a little steep for what I've seen a 'normal' PSA7 sell for......I think SMR on a 7 is in the $650-$700 range. Obviously a TRUE HOFer in a 7 would be in the $2500 range probably or more. Norris (Cardsold) has quite a few OJ's and should be aware of what he's getting himself into. VERY suprised that Mile High would say he's a HOF'er. Thought they had a pretty good knowledge of that kind of stuff. Could be an honest mistake though. I sold some PSA8 OJ commons in the $1000-$1100 range a while back. Think SMR on an 8 is about $1300 or so. Haven't checked lately. Anyway, he's NOT in the HOF. Don't think lifetime .255 hitter with 1200+ hits will do it. His 27 home runs in 1884 did make him the 19th century single season champ I believe.......

his 27 homers were a mlrecord till that ruth guy came along, but the reason that he had that many homers in 1884 was the field they played at was less than 200 feet down each line, and williamson being a righty, left field was just 180,in prevous seasons balls hit over the fence were ruled to be doubles, needless to say in previous seasons he was among the league leader in doubles, the following season they changed the home run rule back. Williamson played 13 seasons total but hit only 56 home runs in the other 12 seasons combined. He held the national league record for homers until 1922 when Rogers Hornsby hit 42

My thoughts are that there are more important things to worry about than whether Norris wants to pay an extra few bucks for an entombed card.

N173 commons in NM go for $1500. N172 commons go for $350, except for Ned Williamson, who goes for $750. This is the 2002 SCD guide I'm talking about. OhOh..the card is graded, isn't it? I don't have the SMR; you're probably right.

Big price jump for a 7...:(

All wrong!!! The Ned Williamson is listed at $2,200 NRMT (PSA7), $990 EX, $550 VG in the "2002 SCD Standard Catalog", page 261. Thats why he bid.... Frank
