Default Post Some 1940 Play Balls

This set gets very little love on this forum. I'd like to see some members' favorite cards from this set. I'm thinking about taking the plunge.

Agree completely. Not necessarily the prettiest in terms of production quality, especially when the following year's set introduced color, but definitely spans a great number of hall of famers and captures a great array of poses and portraits. Here's some of mine; am about halfway to the set:

I actually prefer these over the color 41's.

Picked up a lot of about 150 1940's last summer at of all places a garage sale.
Fortunate to get a Williams & Jackson which graded out to a 5MK & a 6 which sold with Legendary.
Here is a few of the better centered ones.
