Default 1935 Tigers WS Pennant / Banner - Help Please

Have a chance to purchase this 1935 Tigers banner. It measures 22 x 16. I have never seen this style before and I'm curious if anyone else has? Also the seller is asking $1,500 for it. Not sure also if that is a fair / reasonable price. Any help or information would be appreciated.

I've never seen it and if I was you anything I haven't seen I would buy. Probably not cheap if you are looking to flip, but if you want it for your collection it seems fair

Agree. That's spectacular and presumably super-rare.

Never seen that one either... I'd grab it, as the price seems really good for a possible lone survivor. It's similar to a couple of pennants from that era... but even nicer. Very tough to find MLB Banners of that era from ANY team (not just the Tigers).

Default 1935 Tigers Banner

Hi Stephen,

In the past 28 years of being in the sports industry, with most of that time being in the Detroit area, this is only the 3rd example of this banner with the black background that I have seen turn-up. They issued it with an orange background, which is more common, and I have owned a half dozen of the orange ones over the years, and only 1 black example.

The price is fair for both parties, as you are not stealing it, but he isn't charging you top retail.

Regards,
Bryan Dec

I'm a long time 30+ year Detroit Tigers collector. I have seen a few of these in the past. As I recall the last one sold in the $700 range? They are pretty rare.

Great pennant, very similar in artwork to a standard triangular '35 pennant currently on eBay as a Buy it Now (but priced very high)
