is it fairly common for n172's to be tinted or toned to look like a pink or any other colors? have seen a few and was just wondering! thanks!

As far as I'm concerned, good contrast and a sharp photo are essential. Black and white ones are especially rare, and I think prized.

Yes, the pink tint is a common feature/flaw on Old Judges. A quick "search posts" yielded this helpful thread:

They can indeed be entirely pink. Pinkness aside, this one has great photo quality.
