Default 1933 Goudey

I've noticed that there are two Lou Gehrig's in the set, are they the same cards with two different numbers?

thanks,
John

Hi John -

Yes, they are like the Jimmie (Jimmy) Foxx cards with the same fronts/backs, only different numbers. Card No. 160 is seen significantly less than No. 92.

1500 of the most painful dollars I ever spent was on the second Gehrig.

The second Gehrig #160, has a more washed out look in blue background. My avatar is the low number 92.

I hated the fact that the two Gehrigs in this set looked virtually identical. For many years I tried to tell myself that my Yankees team set was complete with only one of the Gehrigs.

However, I finally caved and just yesterday the second Gehrig came in the mail, got it on Ebay, used my max Ebay Bucks towards it. While it hurts to spend money on a virtually identical card, at least now I do feel like my 33 Goudy Yankees team set is truly complete.

Really wish they had at least given it a totally different background color though.

I hear you! The second Gehrig and Foxx cards will be some of the last for my set.
