Default Chicago Cubs West Side Grounds New Postcard

Anyone ever seen this postcard of Chicago Cubs' old West Side Grounds? I've seen about 10 different West Side Grounds postcards over the years, some in photo and some in graphic form, but never this one. Totally new to me. Anyone else?

What year is it? It looks more like Wrigley Field to me.

Probably around 1910. The upper deck wasn't extended past the left field foul pole until about then. This is definitely West Side Grounds. That park, like Wrigley, had buildings beyond the left field wall where people would sit on the roof to watch the games. It also had buildings beyond the right field wall, but by 1910 those were mostly blocked from seeing into the park by a giant scoreboard and billboard.

The other typical circa 1910 west side cards are 10 times more common then this one. I have had this one probably 4 or 5 times over the past 25 years. Typically around a $75 to $100 card when I have sold it or seen it for sale.

Appreciate the background info! What are the other rare West Side Grounds postcards? There are the few that pop up on ebay all the time. Anything else? These two, the two versions with the crowd on the field, the one from from behind home plate, one from left field and one from right field. All are graphics. Anything else?

PS: Also, I've seen a few variations of the text on the few postcards. "West side" vs "West Side" and so on.

Default 1906 West Side Grounds

Here's how I incorporated my postcard into the context of the 1906 World Series (Cubs v White Sox)...

Yeah, looks awesome! I just bought a postcard frame for six.

Best I can tell there are about 10-13 different West Side Grounds postcards.

As far as printed cards there is a more scarce one taken from the outfield looking in towards home plate. There is also a a rare jumbo 2 foot wide printed postcard.

Aw good one! I have seen that one once. I forgot it. I know there is a photograph postcard or two of the entrance outside the stadium.

Here is the entry on West Side Grounds from the 1997 edition of Tom Crabtree's "Baseball Stadium Postcards", a pretty exhaustive list. The prices give an idea of the relative scarcity of the various cards.

Wow, this is awesome! I really appreciate it. I had no idea there were so many! I've seen images of only maybe 13-14 or so.

Yours is PRE 81, the second one on the list. A lot of these are the same image, just with slightly different captions, publishers, etc. Yours is one of the few to come in only one variant.

I appreciate it. Do you have photos of many of the postcards off that list? Tough to make out what ones are which but I am shocked there are so many different ones, forgetting the many slight variations. That is a great list. I really appreciate it.

Nice assist, David,
I am guessing this Cubs buttonhead didn't make the list?

Very cool postcards shown here.

I thought it would be alright to post this here, I did a blog post about the West Side Grounds a couple years ago as I use an image of the ballpark as the header for my blog and thought some might enjoy it. Also a shameless plug for my meager and poorly written blog. Here is the link. https://forloveofthecards.blogspot.c...ball-park.html There are a couple nice images of the park included.
